Walter B. Wickizer returned to his Creator on December 6, 2023. He was born on April 14, 1939 in Brush, Colorado. A Vietnam war veteran, he served the US Navy at the young age of 17 in 1956 and until his retirement in 1978. He was discharged honorably with a rank of E6 / Petty Officer First Class with an occupational designation of Gunner’s Mate G First Class. He lived most of his life in San Diego County. He was a reserved person and man a few words with a tender smile.
Walter was married to his late wife, Evelyn Wickizer, who passed away on May 1, 2020. He is survived by his stepson, Josel Barin with wife Cathy, and their children: Haniel, Jon, and Ella. A visitation for Walter will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel National City, 607 National City Boulevard, National City, CA 91950. A graveside service will occur Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 10:15 PM to 10:45 PM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr,, San Diego, CA 92122.
