On Friday, September 13, 2019, William Anthony Apodaca Jr., loving son, brother, husband and father, passed away peacefully at the age of 32. In 2015, William was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Cancer. After a long and valiant battle, William was called Home by our Heavenly Father.
William was born on June 12, 1987, in San Diego, California, to William Apodaca and Jacqueline Lopez, their first child. On March 4, 2003, William and Kathryn Jensen were blessed with their beautiful son, William Kenneth Jensen. Over the years, they developed a strong, loving relationship and enjoyed watching movies together, eating out and making each other laugh. In 2015, he met his wife, Irene Gomez, and they were involved in a loving, devoted, whirlwind partnership. William and Irene married on September 3rd, 2019. Irene was at his side until William went Home to Heaven.
Due to his love of helping others, William pursued a career in Nursing to bring comfort to and make a difference in people’s lives. He earned his Nursing Degree in 2011 from Southwestern College. William started his career as an EMT at Paradise Valley Hospital, continued on to become a Registered Nurse at Alvarado Hospital, and worked most recently and an RN in the NST ICU at Scripps Memorial La Jolla. Despite his own battles with cancer, William continued to work and care for others. He will forever be remembered for his intelligence, strength and kindness.
William had a passion for all things electronic. He would spend hours doing in-depth research about the latest technologies and could spend just a long wrapped up in conversations and debates about which devices were superior. William loved immersing himself in worlds of fantasy, from World of Warcraft to Game of Thrones. He enjoyed hanging out and joking around with his boys, making memories through the night that would last a lifetime. William was also a major foodie; he had a serious sweet tooth and enjoyed dining out at his favorite restaurants. He especially adored spoiling his dog Spot, whom he affectionately referred to as his “mamas.”
William was raised in a large and caring family. Tradition and love were a keystone of who William was. He is survived by parents William and Jaqueline, step-father Cesar, wife Irene, siblings Jovannah, Melissa, Alsacia, Ryan, Cesar, and Cerrena, his only son William, and his best friend Spot.
Services will be held on September 29, 2019. William requested to be cremated. His ashes will be interred in the family plot at Holy Cross Cemetery.
