Ada Mae Ritchie

Giroux, Manitoba. Their farm held many happy memories for Mae. It is was here that her love for gardening and animals began.

She completed school, moved to Winnipeg and began to apply her Math skills in her workplace as she worked full-time in business. She married Jack Ritchie in 1961 who shared a love of socializing and nature. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Ritchie.

As an only child she remained close to her parents and cared for them in their later years. Her father predeceased her in 1989 and her mother in 1998.

Mae enjoyed music, dancing, cooking, her pets, fashion, travelling and socializing. She loved to participate and organize social events, such as with the Widows & Widowers, the Tall Club and at the Canadian Legions. It was at one of these events that she met Denis Leclair who would be her companion for the next 25 years. They shared many mutual interests - cooking, gardening, music, and dancing. They enjoyed their winters in Texas with their dogs. Denis predeceased her earlier this year. At the Seine River Residence she enjoyed cards, puzzling, crafts, gardening, shuffleboard among other activities.

She beat cancer the first time but could not beat it the second time. She will be missed by her many friends for her kindness, generosity and ability to see the positive side of every situation. She will be missed by her adopted daughter Gail and her husband Ken tremendously.

Thank you to the kind doctors, nurses, aides, and other staff at the Victoria Hospital and St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion.

There will be a memorial for Mae at the Seine River Residence Chapel on Monday, November 21, 2022.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband Jack and her parents at Green Acres Cemetery.
