It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Alan. He passed suddenly December 25th in the company of close friends, in Winnipeg at the age of 67. He will be missed by so many people who were close to him throughout his life, friends and family alike.
He is Survived by his Son, Ryan Foss (Kelsey), Daughter, Jessica (Eric), Grandchildren Theo and Dylan, Brother Eric, and Sisters, April (Peter) and Joan (Chris). He was predeceased by his parents, Violet ‘Vi’ McCormick, (2008), and Avery Kenneth McCormick (2012).
Alan retired from a rewarding career at Canadian Pacific Railway; his ‘Railway Brothers’ remained an important part of his life both during and after his time there. He spent his free life enjoying the outdoors with activities such as fishing, hunting, boating and camping. He travelled coast to coast of Canada and all over the United States where his exploits remain the stuff of legend. His retirement years were spent wintering in Baja Mexico where we made many close friends and enjoyed the warm weather, culture and oceanside living.
There are too many friends and stories to ever put in writing, so many people will have a special or funny memory of Alan to carry with them.
The family asks that people forgo flowers or gifts, for those who wish a charitable donation can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in Alan’s memory.
A memorial service for Alan was held Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery.
