It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alfred La Riviere on December 6, 2023 at the age of 66 years at the St. Boniface Hospital with the family by his side, Fred was predeceased by his parents Armande La Riviere 1991 and Telespore La Riviere 1992.
He is survived by his three sisters, Dora, Evelyne (Walter), Lorraine, and Dennis along with an ex-bother-in-law Rick who remained very close to our family. Also left to cherish his memory are his nieces and nephews Scott, Megan, Catherine, Jonathan, Richard, Sean and Lisa-Marie. His great nieces Peyton, Isabella, Jessica, Cara and Alyssa.
Fred had different jobs in his lifetime, Kmart & Zellers as a shipper and receiver. Salisbury House as a waiter and cashier, YMCA in janitorial and he would come home and say my Fitbit says I walked 20k steps today as he would laugh, the Husky Gas as a cashier, for the last 14 years he remained at Co-op Regent this was home for him. He took the staff and put them under his wing and considered them all as his work family. This was such an honour for him as he was proud of his other work family. Anytime there was a problem at the store the staff would call Fred and he was ready to help. During the fourteen years he built a strong bond and relationship with the customers so much so that many of them became personal friends.
Fred’s Hobby was to go to his best friends Betty’s place, gathering everyone up for Canasta game night and playing cards till 2 or 3 in the morning. Fred enjoyed the game so much he would arrive early so he could prep the table then proceed to make a huge bowl of popcorn for everyone. That was his big game night win or lose lol, he also enjoyed doing puzzles and playing games on his phone.
We would like to thank our pallbearers, Don, Tom, Sean, Scott, Richard and Andre.
