The Lord called home Anje Bakker into His embrace on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Bethania care home.
Beloved wife of predeceased husband Petrus Bakker, mother of Grace (Peter) Wynalda, Thede (Gert) Bakker, Nellie Bakker, Bill (Kay) Bakker and Bernie (Betty) Bakker, grandmother to 26 grandchildren and great grandmother to 77 great grandchildren, aunt to family in Ontario and Holland.
Anje was born on July 15, 1920 in Groningen, Holland. She married Petrus after the war in August 1945 in Friesland. They immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada in October 1954 with four children and her father after which one more child was added to the family. She worked in the family shop, did sewing jobs and ran the household. She was well known for her strong work ethic and no-nonsense attitude. In her end years she moved into Bethania care home where the care and support she received was appreciated.
Her faith was the most important thing to her, followed closely by family. She would acknowledge the struggles of life but remind us all to “Be still and know that I am God! “Psalm 46:10. Advice and homemade gifts were freely given by her and were greatly cherished. She will be missed but we rejoice for her as she is without pain, living with her heavenly Father.
A celebration of Anje's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Providence Reformed Church of Winnipeg 2615 Henderson Highway East, St. Paul, Manitoba.
