It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Anne Bresson in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is lovingly remembered by her sons Paul, Steven (Cherie), Nicholas (Candy), her grandchildren Ashton, Shaylene, Braylin, Blair, and Cody. She also has 1 brother, Richard, and 3 sisters, Joanne (Murray), Christine (Johnny), Debbie and many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her parents Mary and Michael Malko and brother-in-law Richard Osiowy.
Mom went to school as a youngster at Arondale School near her home, followed by going to Oakbank Collegiate. She worked for an inventory company after having her first 2 children followed by St. Adolphe Hospital. She then began working for Salisbury House in the 80s where she quickly moved up the managerial ladder to become an assistant manager at several locations. In the early 90s she started her long career at Woolco followed by Walmart. She was a department manager when she retired in October 2019 at the age of 67 after working there over 25 years.
Mom enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and all forms of crafts like crocheting, knitting, macrame, and cross stitch. She also enjoyed cooking, watching curling, hockey, both on TV and watching her nephew Blair when he played for the Winkler Flyers and Winnipeg Blues. She also enjoyed playing canasta and color by number on her computer.
Mom worked hard for everything she had in life. One of her most cherished purchases was her 2020 Nissan Kicks vehicle in January 2021, which she showed off proudly. She planned a trip to go to BC to visit her good friend Kim in July 2021. Two years into retirement she was diagnosed with lung cancer in November 2021 and began chemo and radiation treatments until her cancer had progressed beyond the point of treatment. Her final 2 weeks with us were spent at Riverview Hospital in Winnipeg where she received amazing care from the staff there and made sure she wasn't in any pain her entire stay there.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Thursday, May 18th, 2023 from 10:30am to 11am at Green Acres Funeral Home followed by a small lunch afterwards at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Barbs memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrooke St, Winnipeg, Mb, R3C 2B7
