Cally Lester, age 21, passed away on Tuesday, February 25th, 2020, of an accidental overdose after a long battle with addiction. Cally was working hard to be sober, going to many AA, CA and NA meetings wherever she could in the months before her death.
She is survived by her parents Connie Lester (Wolf Kraft) and Jeff Lester (Nikki Manalo), her sister Alexa Lester, stepsisters Cassie and Heidi Kraft, grandmother Shirley Lester, her cats Louis and Gucci, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Cally was a beautiful, caring person who had your back if she chose you as worthy. She was feisty and outspoken, would do anything for anyone, and always lit up the room with her smile and sense of humor. Cally loved music and was an exceptional writer of song lyrics. She wrote from her heart and soul, her words were honest and true to her life experiences. She loved her family deeply, wanted to adopt every animal she saw, and played with every child she came across. She especially loved horses and took any chance to ride and just be near them. Cally believed strongly in “the underdog”. She fought fiercely for those who were less abled, soft hearted or just simply needed a big sister to stick up for them. That was Cally… this amazing woman should be remembered for strength and heart. Cally wanted to live. She fought hard all the way until the end. Rest in peace. You will always be in our hearts.
All are welcome to Cally’s Celebration of Life which will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 6 at the Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Avenue, in North Kildonan. There will be a reception at the church directly after the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Cally’s name to The Addictions Foundation of Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
