SEPTEMBER 29, 1922 – SEPTEMBER 21, 2014
Peacefully, at the age of 91, Dad passed away with his family by his side after a long and happy life.
Charlie was predeceased by his dear wife, Jeanne, and his siblings: Jack, Esther Cook, Bill and Andy. He is survived by his children, Linda, Nancy, and Andy (Wendy) and his beloved grandchildren, Janine (Mike) and Ian.
Dad was a mechanical designer with Manitoba Bridge and Engineering and later Sullivan Strong Scott. He loved his work and looked forward to it every day. His garden was his pride and joy and he was known to mow his lawn several times a week. Travel was his passion. He and Mom made several trips to Europe and especially enjoyed their Alaskan cruise. He fulfilled his dream of going to Scotland with his brother Andy and sister-in-law Stephie. In later years, he took the family on many trips all over the world: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Australia, Cambodia, Vietnam, India. The family Scrabble game and cribbage board went everywhere with us and we had so much fun. Did he ever cheat? We always wondered.
Dad always said that he was very happy with his life and did all the things he wanted to do. His family was everything to him.
A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held in the reception room at Thomson “In the Park” at 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Family and friends are invited to stop in anytime between 2:00 and 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 9th. The eulogy will be at 3:00.
The family expresses our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff on the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface hospital. We couldn’t have asked for better care for Dad and the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation at www.saintboniface.ca. Please specify ‘palliative care’.
