Denis was born on July 2, 1929, and lived a long, steady, and generous life. He shared 72 years of marriage with the love of his life, Lucy, a partnership rooted in loyalty, humour, and quiet devotion. Together they built a simple but full life, raising three daughters who adored him: Elaine, Charlene (Norm), and Deneen (Dave).
He was a proud grandfather to Jaren (Rachelle) and Ryler (Lea), and a delighted great grandfather to Audrey, Adrian, Ronnie, and soon to arrive baby Madden. Denis treasured time with his family and found deep joy in being with them.
Denis was predeceased by his parents, his brother, and his sister, along with many extended family members he held close in his heart. He is survived by his sister Yvonne, with whom he shared a lifelong and meaningful bond.
A hardworking and humble provider, Denis spent many years at Swifts as a butcher before completing his working life in the St. Boniface School Division. He took pride in doing things well, quietly, and without fanfare.
At home, Denis found joy in the simple things — especially his garden, which he tended with care and passion. His garden fed his family and many others, as he generously shared his produce with anyone who needed or enjoyed it.
Denis was a man of deep and steady faith, and his belief guided him throughout his life. His faith shaped the way he loved, worked, and cared for others, and it remained a quiet source of strength for him until the end.
We will celebrate Denis’s life with a Funeral Mass at St. Emile Church, 556 St. Anne’s Road, on Saturday, May 23 at 11:30 a.m. Following the service, the family invites everyone to join them in the church hall to continue sharing memories and celebrating Denis’s life. A private interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross.
His legacy is one of love, steadiness, faith, and deep rooted family connection. We will miss him dearly.
