It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dennis Lee King. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Dennis remained a lifelong resident of the area.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Cindy; his sons Travis (Lace) and Michael (Stefani); and his cherished grandchildren Justice, Landon, Alyssa, Khloe, and Linden. He is also survived by his siblings Robert (Juanita), Michael (Maria), Kimberley (Marc), and Bryan, along with many extended family members. Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Rita; his sister Barbara; and his brothers Christopher and Donald.
Dennis’s greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted husband to his soulmate, Cindy, and a proud father to Travis and Michael. He found deep purpose in the life he built with his family, and his journey of sobriety, which began in 2004, was a reflection of his strength, determination, and love for those closest to him.
A man of many talents, Dennis began his career as a chef before finding his calling in maintenance and home repair. Through his handyman work, he became known for his skill, generosity, and willingness to help others—often placing kindness above profit. He met Cindy, the love of his life, in 1995 while working at the Travelodge Hotel. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter and were married in 2012.
Dennis later worked at ATCO in Fort McMurray, at Assiniboine Park Zoo, and as Operations Supervisor at Kildonan Place Mall, where he formed many valued friendships.
Dennis was a natural comedian with a sharp wit and a playful, irreverent sense of humour. He never missed a chance to tease, joke, and keep those around him laughing—his humour was as unforgettable as his kindness.
He will be remembered for his warm heart, generosity of spirit, and resilience. His laughter and love will live on in all who knew him.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tyler Spencer and the compassionate staff of the Family Medicine Ward at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, at Green Acres Funeral Home, 1 Green Acres Lane, Winnipeg, MB.
