Fletch was born in Lyleton, Mb to Ed and Irene Fletcher (nee McNish) and grew up on the family farm. Fletch married Donna Nixon on October 24, 1953. They were together for 57 years, and raised three daughters, Karen, Barb and Kim.
Fletch was ‘the best damn banker,” and a loyal employee in a job he loved with Scotiabank for 40 years, ending his career in Kenora, Ont.
Fletch was known for his kindness and generosity. We never heard him say anything negative about anyone. He was selfless in giving to community, volunteering with Ducks Unlimited, the Lions Club, curling and community clubs, Rosedale United Church, and many more. He was also a regular blood donor.
He enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved to dance, golf, curl, play bridge & crib, and spend time with friends, family and grandchildren. After retirement he enjoyed going south in the winters for 21 years and woodcarving beautiful ducks and birds.
Fletch was predeceased by his wife, Donna, his parents, Ed and Irene Fletcher, his brother Everett Fletcher, his in-laws, Mel and Thelma Nixon, his son-in-law, Ed Allen, his special friend, Nancy Marchylo, in addition to many loved brother- and sister-in-laws and many dear friends.
Dad will be remembered and deeply missed by his daughters, Karen Fletcher and Dick Forbes, Barb Fletcher and Eric Palibroda, Kim and Roy Denomme; his brother, Al Fletcher and Arrol Young, sister-in-law Maureen Fletcher and brother-in-law Merril McNichol; grandchildren Kate (Garret) Lair, Joe (Patia) Denomme, Emily (Matt) Cabana, Marty Palibroda; and four great grandchildren, James, Norah, Eli, Allison; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the staff at Beacon Hill Lodge for the loving care they provided over the past 3 years, including Susannah, Evelyn, Sara, Edel, Alfred, Ermilyn, Senait, Danny and so many others.
Fletch loved animals. If so desired, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society (https://winnipeghumanesociety.ca/ways-to-help/donate/) or a charity of your choice.
