Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Linda (Don) Schellenberg, Diane Yetman, and Cathy (Scott) Gauld; grandchildren David Schellenberg (Vanessa Dubowits) and Quinton Gauld; great-grandchildren Brandon and Tyler Schellenberg.
Preceding him are his loving wife of 66 years, Rita, and grandchildren Matthew, Elizabeth, and Eric Schellenberg.
When Gordon completed Grade 8, he joined Ray-O-Vac Battery Company and quickly earned a supervisor position. Then his father and brother requested his assistance with launching a company of their own, Yetman’s Ltd. Together, they succeeded and he was an owner until 2004.
Gordon was a man of many talents – oil painting, typing, woodcarving, fixing everything and anything, and he was a true storyteller. We are fortunate to have been left with so many wonderful memories to reflect on, like dinners at Linda’s where to his delight she would serve him a second helping of dessert every time, Cathy telling her “but that’s not my dog” joke with a crazy French accent and hearing his laughter, and at the end of his life, Di holding his hand, reading him a book, and being rewarded with a squeeze of her hand and a smile in return. Dad, you will be missed but never forgotten.
We would like to thank everyone at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home for making a caring “home” for Gordon. Bless you all.
At the age of 35, Eric fought a courageous battle against cancer but lost on May 24, 2020. Now every day we miss the “Hey” of his greeting, the “grunt” of his acknowledgment, and seeing that hair of his that could never be corralled. Eric loved life, lived life, and tried to experience everything while going the speed of light with his friend Steve’s help. If he ever wronged you, he would apologize and give you the best hug that was all heart. Eric was like a meteor, travelling at high speeds, bumping into things, and whose light was extinguished far too soon. We loved you, we miss you, but we will never forget you.
