Dear family, this must be the Mr. Ian Hamilton who was my Grade Eight teacher in Russell, Manitoba. He was a wonderful teacher who inspired me to become a teacher also. My Mr. Hamilton was married in the spring of that year, if I remember correctly.
He inspired us to create our own class yearbook complete with black and white contact prints. We were an enthusiastic (!) class who received very timely and appropriate dressing- downs, talks from the heart about growing up and responsibility. We loved playing soccer with him right through the winter.  When I was coaching teacher candidates after I retired I always asked them about their memorable teachers, giving me the chance to tell them about Mr. Hamilton.

Ian was my Vice-Principal at Margaret Underhill School..I remember him as a caring, knowledgeable administrator who was well respected by his staff and students..his kind manner always managed to make those around him feel calmer and acknowledged...I offer my condolences to Evelyn and family.

Ian attended our Day Club on Friday’s. He was the nicest man so kind and considerate. I remember when he gave us a tour of his apartment and I was blown away by his talent in woodworking. We looked forward to seeing him every week. We will miss him so  much!

Evelyn and Ian  were our neighbors and friends for many years and we had many good times just sitting around and remenising of his working on the railroad while going through university, he will certainly be missed for his stories, personally I think he got the gift of the gab from his Irish ancestry. 
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

Every summer since I was about 5 years old, I would spend time with Grandma and grandpa before I went to northern Manitoba to be with my other grandparents and I think those were some of the best memories I’ll keep with me for life. 

Grandma and grandpa would always welcome me with so much love at the airport and be so proud to have me around their place. Introducing me to everyone in the building, playing card games, swimming for hours, lawn bowling, the activities were endless and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to be in Winnipeg each summer with my family.

The Grandfather clock has recently been passed onto me, and I’m sure we all have a piece of his work in our homes somewhere that we can proudly show off to friends to recognize how talented he was. 

Every time I see a goose it reminds me of Grandpa, and I think that this is my absolute favorite memory of him;

The pond that was out back behind the first care home they lived in was something we would always walk around and there were always geese in and around it so there was one time where I got curious about the baby geese and wanted to pet them and Grandpa told me to go ahead and try. 
So I walk down the hill and get pretty close to the babies and all of a sudden the momma goose comes towards me full speed, full wing span flapping and screeching at me. 
I turned to run up the hill as fast as my little legs could and I tripped, I was so scared and I looked up to see grandpa laughing at the top of the hill and at the time that was awful but telling the story now, of course it’s hilarious and that’s just the kind of person Grandpa was with me. He would always have me try new things because that’s how I learn. 

I loved every summer out there with him and I am so thankful I was raised by such loving and creative grandparents.
