It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of my dear husband, Ian, on August 28, 2020.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Evelyn, four children: Gail (Alex), Bob (Nancy), Erla (Marty), Scott (Kari) and eight grandchildren: Liz (Colin), Maggie (Joe), Matthew, Alex, Kathryn, Erin, Daniel and Rachel. His three great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Olivia and Logan, were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his two sisters, Gretta and Maisie, as well as many other relatives and close friends.
Ian was born in Swan River in 1932. After completing high school he ventured into a teaching career which lasted 37 years. At Normal School he met the love of his life, Evelyn. They were married in 1955 and began a very adventurous life together. Ian was a very loving, honest, responsible, hard-working gentleman. In retirement he enjoyed music, sports, badminton, curling, golf, lawn bowling and travelling. He spent many hours crafting beautiful pictures in wood (Intarsia) and created multiple grandfather clocks for family members.
Private family interment has taken place.
Sincere thank-you to Erla for her love and guidance during our darkest hour. Also to Bob and Nancy for their love and support. Thank-you to Perry-Anne, Liz, Maggie and Joan. You were there when we needed it most. Thank-you to the staff at Brightwater Senior Living for their care and compassion.
For 65 years we kept our promise to love and cherish in sickness and in health, until death do us part.
Rest in peace, dear.
