It is with utmost sadness that we announce the passing of Janice Lynne Dodd. Janice slipped away peacefully at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli on February 21, 2020. Janice was loved by all who came in contact with her. She was very easy to care about. Janice was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, Bertram Glenn Dodd, her mother Merle Frances Bentley (nee Cooper), father George Henry Bentley.
Left behind to mourn her are her two children, Sheri Lynne Gagnon (Ron) and Colin Dodd. Her two loving grandsons, Jonathon and Eryk Gagnon, and her siblings Barbara Bentley-Swailes (Chris), Harry Allan Craig Bentley and Cheryl Anne Matthewman (Phil), and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Janice spent the better part of 30 years as a dedicated employee at CNR. Never one to turn down a challenge she also obtained her HAM radio licence in the 80’s with her call sign VE4JLD which she proudly displayed on the licence plate of her car. She volunteered for everything from Boy Scout Leader to marathon tracker. She had a rare O negative blood type, which when required by others she donated freely throughout her life without hesitation. We are all very proud of her for each and every accomplishment. Ever the city dweller she took up roots and moved to the country to Winnipeg Beach in 2015 where she loved her little “shack” for the remainder of her days. We will all miss her and love her for the rest of ours.
We would like to take this time to thank all of the staff at the Johnson Memorial Hospital for everything they did to help Janice.
A service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, April. 27, 2020 at Green Acres Funeral Home & Cemetery, Hwy #1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
