

Les is survived by his son Greg Wahl and grandsons Ryan and Tyler, daughter Deborah Wahl, her husband James Enns, granddaughters Stephanie and Alexandra, and Sandra Baldwin. Les will also be missed by his brothers Leonard (Lorraine), Wilfred (Judy), John ( Betty), Garry, Raynard (Judy), sister in law Gayle and brother in laws Joe (Elaine) Skulmoski and Julian Skulmoski as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Les was predeceased by his wife Roseanne and his parents Frederick and Lena Wahl, brothers Melford, Henry, Fred and Bruce, sister in laws Fern, Harriette, Pat and Shirley.
Les was born in Ashern, Manitoba on May 25, 1940 and grew up on the family farm. As a young man Les moved to work at Lynn Lake with his brothers to help support the family. After meeting his future wife Roseanne, they moved to Kitimat, BC where Les worked for Alcan as a Security and Fire Officer. There they started their family and enjoyed the mountains of BC along with his brother Wilfred and family. In 1970 the family moved to Winnipeg where Les joined the West Kildonan Fire Department which amalgamated in to Winnipeg Fire Department. Les served 33 years as a Firefighter, Training Officer, Lieutenant, Captain and retired as a District Chief in 2003.
Les was known by all as a hard working man man that could build or fix anything. Les built many of his family homes and cottage where he raised his family. When Les wasn’t working he enjoyed time at the cottage, making wine, travelling, wintering in Hawaii and Texas as well as being a competitive curler, winning the Manitoba Firefighters Championship and proudly representing Winnipeg Firefighters at the National playoffs in Nova Scotia.
During retirement Les spent his time at ANAVET where he made many new friends and volunteered in endeavours such as coordinating bus tours to Folklorama pavilions and various casinos.
A service to honour Les will be held at ANAVET Assiniboia Unit 283, 3584 Portage Ave, Winnipeg on Tuesday July 19, 2022 at noon (12:00 pm).

Please be advised that proof of vaccination is required.
A private family service will be held in the near future to place Les with Roseanne.
