It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father Manfred Buike on September 8, 2021 at the age of 80 at Selkirk Regional Health Centre. Manfred will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his children Rodney and Jason (Tansey). He will also be dearly missed by his two sisters Rose and Monica; along with his niece, nephews and great nieces and nephew.
He will be reunited with the love of his life Ursula, and his parents Willy and Irma Buike.
Manfred was born in Germany and came to Winnipeg where he met and married his wife Ursula. They raised their sons in Oakbank, Manitoba where he lived until he retired in Lockport, Manitoba.
Manfred only had one speed - and that was fast. Whether at work as a general contractor or at home, he walked at a fast pace and rarely had time to explain his plan before he got started on a project. He was always there to lend a hand to his friends and neighbours.
Dad’s passion was travel. He loved his regular trips to Hawaii and European river cruises. He met many great friends in his travels and loved sharing his photos with family and friends when he returned.
He also loved driving and could often be found cruising River Road with the top down, when he was not scavenging the riverbanks to collect driftwood for his air plant creations, or spending time with his friends on the deck.
A special thank you to all of his dear friends at his condo for all of their love, care and concern, especially over this last year.
A private service will be held on Saturday, September 25 at Green Acres Funeral Home. Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions attendance is limited to invitation only. The service will be live streamed and you can access the Livestream link at www.greenacresfuneralhome.com in the Upcoming Services tab.
