She and John were married at John Black Memorial United Church on July 16, 1947. They moved to what became the family farm in Anola in 1949 and raised eight children there. In the twenty years between children, she also taught elementary school at Millbrook, McDavid and Richland. Marjorie was a loving, optimistic, caring mother with a strong faith, who always put the needs of others before her own. She was a life-long learner and a prolific reader with a keen interest in gardening, nature, family history, religion and politics. She was a life-long volunteer at church, schools and missions in Winnipeg until her 90’s. She always remembered everyone’s birthday with a card. At 85 after suffering with painful knees for several years, she had a successful double knee replacement, which improved her life greatly. She survived breast cancer and had a full healthy life even travelling to the Mediterranean and Caribbean in her 90’s. She set a great example for all her children and will be forever remembered.
The family would like to thank the kind and caring staff at Kin Place and Rosewood Lodge, her home care workers and Sunrise Lodge friends.
