With gratitude for all the years we have shared and yet sadness for losing someone so dear, we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Marybel Alice Hillsden (nee Lendrum) at just 6 weeks short of her 103rd birthday.
Her memory will be cherished by her children Ruth(Arnold), Murray (Jane), and Gayle (Les); her grandchildren Robert, Beverly (AJ), Michael (Lauren), Steven (Melissa), Christopher (Ashley), and Jason (Alex); as well as her great grandchildren Isabelle, Taylor, Avery, Olive, Theo, Remi, Iver and Jackson.
Marybel was born on the family farm in the rural municipality of Franklin near the town of Ridgeville, MB where she lived until moving to the city to work. There she met and married Charles Victor (Vic) Hillsden in 1946. They celebrated 74 years together before his passing in 2021.
Marybel was a caregiver. She and Vic took in many people both the young and the elderly, and pets as well, and gave them a loving home. She worked as a health care aide at St. Amant Centre for many years, offering love and support to the children there, prior to her retirement. She believed firmly that we are on this earth to love and serve others, which she did until the end. She will be remembered for her knitting, crocheting, ceramics, and baking (especially those wonderful bran muffins) that she made, served and gave away.
A private celebration for immediate family only of Marybel’s life will be April 8, 2023, 10 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. The celebration will be livestreamed via www.greenacresfuneralhome.com.
