November 19, 1959 – August 1, 2022
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rebekah Foster following her courageous battle with cancer; true to form, Becky remained a fiesty fighter until the end. Becky is so missed by her childhood sweetheart and lifelong partner and husband of 44 years, Wayne, and their three children and their families; Amanda and Peter and Félix, Mark and Amber (Jade) and Liam, and Melissa. Becky was the eldest of six children, leaving behind a sister, Valerie and Mitch Sylvestre, and brothers Steve Wolfe, and Randall Wolfe, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Jake and Pat Wolfe, and brothers Rusty Wolfe and Danny Wolfe. Becky also leaves behind sister-in-law Shelley Wolshyn, brother-in-law Glenn and Carrie Foster, and was predeceased by parents-in-law Bob and Stella Foster, and sister-in-law Barbara Foster. Becky was always larger than life, charismatic, funny, and engaging. She was never shy, and loved entertaining others, whether through comedic stories, by singing them one of her original songs, introducing them to a new hobby, and even trying to broker new relationships; Becky took it upon herself to play matchmaker to hospital staff during her stay – whether or not they liked it! Becky was tenacious. In spite of having endured many physical trials and tribulations in her life, she still managed to obtain her Bachelor of Education at the University of Manitoba, and received her lifetime teaching certificate, which was a special source of pride for her and her family. Earlier in her life, Becky was heavily engaged with her church, volunteering to speak and sing at conferences, teaching Sunday School, and acting as a leader at Pioneer Girls. In later years when she was less able to be out in the community, Becky opened her home to friends and family for games and movie nights, or to offer them a place to stay. Over the years, Becky cultivated collections of many of her favourite things, and was very generous and shared freely with her friends, families, and neighbours. What she cherished most was the time people gave to be with her, physically or in spirit. Thank you to Becky’s family, lifelong friends (including Susan and Lloyd Plueschow and Donna and Jack Miller), and neighbours in Forestburg for being a source of comfort, love, and support for Becky in her final chapter, and thank you to the staff of the Grace Hospital, including the many Nurses and Health Care Aides who went well above and beyond the requirements of their roles to be friends to Becky during a tumultuous time. Above all else, Becky loved God, and held fast to her beliefs and convictions until the end. May she find the rest and peace she richly deserves in the arms of her Creator now. A graveside service will take place at Green Acres Cemetery on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 2:30 pm, and will be followed by a private reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice in Becky’s memory. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.greenacresfuneralhome.com for the Foster family.See more See Less
