It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dearly cherished Riccardo Montanino on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at the age of 73. Riccardo was born April 26, 1952, in Manocalzati, Italy. In 1970 he moved himself to Winnipeg.
Riccardo is survived by his devoted wife Maria of 53 years; loving children Amalia (James), Roberto (Andrea); adoring grandchildren Maria, Riccardo, and Madeline; brothers Fiorenzo (Gina), Raniero (Lucia), Diego; sister-in-law Letizia (Antonio); brother-in-law Filippo (Adelheid); as well as one niece and many nephews. Riccardo was predeceased by parents Roberto and Amalia.
Riccardo’s first priority was his wife, children, and grandchildren and always cared for them first no matter what sacrifice may be needed. To keep his family close all his life, he even hand built each child a home very near his own, so he could stay close to them and his grandchildren.
Riccardo loved all things related to nature, including hunting, fishing, and mushroom picking with family and friends; gardening to share his bounty with family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers; and always reminded us of how nature showed us the cycle of life.
Riccardo often reminded us that when the day came that he would leave this world, that he would still be with us, and to not be sad, and to stay strong and move forward in his absence. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Doctors and nurses at St Boniface for their efforts to help him during his final hours.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday March 28, 2026 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 and Navin Road.
