Scott Allan Ross

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Scott Allan Ross on Sept 16, 2024. Scott passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Scott (or Scotty as everyone called him) was born in Hamiota, Manitoba on January 27, 1968 to Allan and Gloria Ross. He grew up in the small town of Shoal Lake where he resided until his graduation.

Scotty was involved in many sports growing up like hockey, baseball, fishing, snorkelling, and especially golf. While growing up in Shoal Lake he loved working on his grandparents' farm. Many things kept him busy as a child, such as cutting grass, building grain bins, fixing tires at the local garage, and pumping gas.

In his later years, Scotty attended Assiniboine College where he received his diploma. At the age of 19, he started Headingley Correctional Facility as the youngest correctional officer at that time. Unfortunately, he was involved in the 1996 riot which took a toll on him and was transferred to the Manitoba Youth Center and then ended his career as a probation officer in the auto theft unit and general probation.

Scotty loved to have fun, you could always find him socializing with people he didn’t know.

Scotty loved to travel and we took many trips together. He enjoyed camping with the kids, quadding, and of course his barbecue and smoker. Scotty will be remembered for the fun loving life of the party.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Cancer Care team in Winnipeg and Selkirk. As well as the Palliative Team in Eastern Interlake Dr.Puff and Nurse Heidi.
