It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Shirley Laverne Lamothe (Evans) on November 21, 2023 at Riverview Health Centre. She was 90 years old.
Shirley leaves to mourn her sons Brad (Nancy), Craig (Shelley), five grandchildren Kyle (May), Nicole (Shannon), Scott (Ashley), Kevin (Kayla), Kelsey (Robert), five great-grandchildren Paisley, Jasper, Nora, Owen, Lily-Rose, sister Margaret Lamothe and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by son Brent and husband Andrew.
Shirley was born in Ninga, MB and had three sisters Joyce, Margaret, Enid and two brothers Tom and Willard. Shirley wanted to be a teacher but had to abandon her dream after her father’s accident and having to manage the post office for him.
Shirley married Andrew in 1957 and raised their family in Transcona. Curling was her game of choice playing in both a women’s league at Transcona Curling Club and a mixed league at the St. Vital Curling Club for many years. Shirley enjoyed time at the cottage with a close-knit group of friends and neighbours. She always had time for her grandchildren and especially loved to watch them run and play when they came to visit. Shirley and Andrew were fortunate enough to be able to spend their last couple of years together at Riverview Health Centre on the same floor.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Riverview CD3 for the care and compassion they provided over the past seven years.
Celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday December 9, 2023 at Green Acres Funeral Home. Interment will take place at a private family event at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choice if so desired.
