Sofia Delfina Marrone (nee Di Marco)
January 5, 1951 – May 2, 2024
It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Sofia, while surrounded by her loved ones.
Sofia is now resting in heaven and reunited with her father Guerino, mother Leondina and sister Anna.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Giustino, sons Gabriele (Cheryl) and Diano, sister Eva (Tony), grandchildren Justin and Emma, brother in-laws Giuliano (Helen), Luciano (Maria Eda) and John, nieces, nephews and many family and friends.
Sofia was born on January 5, 1951 in Montefino, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1963 where she later married her love of her life, Giustino, in 1969.
Sofia was a cook by profession and was known for her famous lasagna. She was proud of her Italian heritage and was involved in the Italian community by volunteering many years at the Italian Pavilion during Folklorama.
Sofia loved children and after raising her sons she then had the privilege of helping raise her nieces Maria and Angela. Nothing brought more joy to Sofia’s life then becoming a Nonna when her grandchildren, Justin and then Emma were born. She was always full of hugs and kisses and could always be heard saying “I love you to the moon and back”. We are so thankful for the beautiful years we shared with our wife, mother, Nonna and Auntie and for the unconditional love and support she gave us daily.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday May 16, 2024 at the Holy Rosary Parish Church, 510 River Avenue with Reverend Father Sam Argenziano at the Celebrant. Viewing and Condolences will be held one hour prior to the mass.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Victoria General Hospital and the St. Boniface Hospital for all of their care and support.
