It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Suzanne Bourrier on January 11, 2020, after a brief struggle with cancer.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, Aurèle and Marie-Paule (Lavack) Blanchette. Suzanne will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 37 years, Richard; her children Daniel and Nicole; and grandchildren Sarah, Heather and Rachael. She will be forever in the hearts of her brothers, Gerald (Donna), Roger (Stephanie) and her sister and best friend Norma (Claude) Brunel; her in-laws Jacqueline (Roy), Gerald (Aline), Lorraine, Alice (Robert), her nieces, nephews, and her very special friends Donna (Norbert) Rey and Kathy (Bob) Hatton. Also left to cherish her memory are her aunts, uncle, many cousins and friends.
Born into a loving family, Suzanne (Suzie, Sue or Toodie as she was lovingly known) was the third of four children. She had a happy childhood growing up on Dupont St. in Norwood. Suzanne attended École Précieux-Sang and St. Boniface Diocesan High School. After high school, she attended Success Business College where she obtained her Secretarial Diploma. Sue then worked for the Royal Bank of Canada at a number of branches in Winnipeg – Union Stockyards, Sargent & Sherbrook, Provencher & Langevin, and One Canada Centre.
Suzanne married Richard, the love of her life, in 1982. Together they did much travelling, visiting China, Mexico, many U.S. states and Canadian provinces. Oftentimes their travel companions included Suzanne’s parents. These trips with her Mom & Dad provided very special memories for her as they shared a very close bond.
Sue had a great sense of humor, she loved to laugh, she loved to read a good mystery thriller, she loved family get-togethers (especially if playing cards was involved), and so looked forward to her casino outings with her sister Norma and sister-in-law Stephanie. Sue had a big, generous heart and always thought of others before herself.
We will miss her beautiful soul but take comfort in knowing that Toodie is now in the arms of her Mom & Dad, whom she loved and missed so much.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre GH-6 ward for their care and compassion. Also special thanks to Father Isaïe Blanchette who administered the Sacrament of the Sick which provided Suzanne with comfort and peace.
