Dad was born in Winnipeg, but lived and grew up on the farm in McMunn Manitoba. He started work loading pulp rail cars. He left the farm and worked as a Road builder doing CAT & Scraper for the TransCanada Hwy and worked up north on the Dew Line. He moved to Hamilton for a short time and got a job in a steel factory.
Not long after returning to Winnipeg Bill met Helen when he was picking up his sister Minnie. Mom and Dad were married on May 16, 1959 and were married for 65 years.
During this time he worked for Subterranean and became great friends with Micki Mignacca and his family. Dad was a CAT Operator and became a Foreman. He worked on many buildings and bridges in Winnipeg like the Museum of Man and Nature, Planetarium, Concert Hall, City Hall, Concordia Hospital, Portage Place just to name a few.
Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling to different places in the U.S. but Las Vegas was the favorite. He enjoyed making wine with his neighbour Jim and loved his John Deere tractors especially the older ones. His plan was to restore a few of them, but then got side tracked with growing garlic and gardening. He provided lots of vegatables for family and friends.
We would like to thank all the staff at Concordia Hospital for their compassion and care.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba.
