Allan was born on January 16, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Ernest Drury Watkins and Beatrice Mae Wallace Watkins. Proud of his Kentucky roots, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Kentucky University in 1985.
Allan proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. Following his military service, he built a long and rewarding career as a Television Producer with WDRB in Louisville, where his creativity and work ethic touched countless stories before his well-earned retirement.
Allan had a passionate spirit and a mind that never stopped learning. He was a lifelong, devoted fan of both University of Louisville and Western Kentucky University sports. Known as a true wealth of knowledge, Allan had an uncanny ability to recall trivial information on nearly any subject, constantly delighting—and impressing—those around him. In his free time, he found immense joy in listening to music, admiring cars, and immersing himself in a good book.
Above all his interests and accomplishments, Allan’s greatest pride and joy was his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Beatrice, and his two brothers, Randall Wallace and Ernest Watkins.
Allan leaves behind a rich legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Martha Watkins; his two cherished daughters, Hannah Rose Huckleby (Ryan) and Claire Elise Watkins (Jack Osbourn); his adored grandson, Calvin Marshall Huckleby; his loving sister, Debra Morrow (Tom); as well as numerous extended family members, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss his quick wit, warm presence, and endless library of stories.
