Angela (Fuchs) Hartman entered eternal life on April 25th, 2026, surrounded in her final days by her family, friends, and devoted caregivers. Her life revolved around faith, family, and friends. Born at home on July 27, 1930, in Louisville, Kentucky, Angela was the youngest child of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Baunach) Fuchs. She was a proud graduate of the Presentation Academy Class of 1948. In 1949, she married Donald Jude Hartman, Sr. and was a loving wife until his death in 1975. Together, Angela and Don welcomed four children: Susan Smith, Marcia Torpey (Greg), Donna Isler (Cliff Hamby), and Donald Hartman, Jr. (Michele), all of whom will lovingly carry on her memory. In addition to her parents, Angela was preceded in death by her sister Mary Elizabeth Yates, and her brothers Joseph and John Fuchs.
Angela was a devoted Granny to her nine grandchildren: Nicole Worley (Steve), Sara Torpey (Aaron Schweizer), Rachel Godin, Andrea Stillwell (Cody), Joshua Torpey (Tricia), Emily Smith (Andrew), Daniel Hartman (Kimmy), Cameron Isler, and Lily Isler. Her legacy continues to live on through her 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Throughout her life, Angela was a devout Catholic and an active member of her neighborhood parishes, which included Sacred Heart (Jeffersonville), Saint Agnes (Louisville), Saint Anthony (Clarksville), and Saint John Paul II (Sellersburg). She served as a Eucharistic Lay Minister and volunteered at many church and school-related functions, as well as at the Community Kitchen in Jeffersonville.
Angela treasured relationships with her many friends. She loved participating in civic and social clubs including the Daughters of Isabella, Tri-Kappa Sorority, Widow and Widowers Club, Older Women’s League, Red Hatters Society, and Bunco Divas club.
The family extends sincere appreciation to the staff of Traditions at Hunters Station and to the staff at Southern Care Hospice for the loving care provided during her time with them, as well as to the outreach ministry from Saint John Paul II Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 4, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kraft Funeral Home, 2776 Charlestown Road. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
