

Ann Everson Receveur, a devoted nurse, beloved mother, avid reader, and reluctant culinary student, passed away on March 10, 2024, in New Albany, IN, at the age of 77. Born on August 21, 1946, in Louisville, KY, Ann dedicated much of her life to the health and well-being of others, a commitment reflected in both her professional and personal endeavors.
Growing up in the Portland neighborhood in the tumultuous 60’s, her teenage years were punctuated with political activism in the fight for racial rights. This drive for change was evident in the 70's in her push for womens rights. Her forward thinking mentality drove her to higher academic achievement, and ultimately professional excellence.
Ann's academic journey in nursing culminated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University in 1983, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisville in 1988. Her career spanned from 1967 to 2003, during which she served as a Registered Nurse, Nursing Educator, finally moving into Nursing Administration until her retirement.
Beyond her professional life, Ann was deeply involved in her community, volunteering from 2010 to 2023 at Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and being an esteemed member of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing. Her no-nonsense attitude, readiness to help, and dedication made her a respected figure in both her professional and volunteer capacities. Some of Ann's closest and longest term friends were through her community activism and professional philanthropy.
Ann is survived by her children, Paul, Joanna, Katie, and Tim; grandchildren, Jahsmine, Zora Ann, Liliann, Jack, Nellie, Beverly, Alex, and Sam; and great-grandchild, Maya. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Virginia Everson. Her husband, Dr. Paul E. Receveur, passed away recently on June 6, 2024.
Services to honor both Ann and Paul’s life and legacy will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, located at 2776 Charlestown Rd., New Albany, IN 47150 on July 6, 2024 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hosparus Health, Southern Indiana and Grief Counseling Center at 502 Hausfeldt Ln., New York, IN 47150, or CASA Clark County at casavoiceclark.org.
Kraft Funeral Service in New Albany, IN, is assisting the family with arrangements. Ann's life and work have left a lasting impact on her community and all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.
