So many memories,I found a kitten and wanted to take it home, Barry and I named it Chessie after the kitten on the train, He had to keep it for me. He used to sit under the kitchen table when his mom would cook. If she missed him she knew where to look. I remember when I was visiting for the summer all 4 boys had ballgames at the same time. I'm sure all 4 Hicks boys are together and playing ball again, and Marie and Jr are cheering them on as always.

Barry Hicks - aka Papaw Barry - who laughed when this little, curly haired girl called him that, even though he was roughly the same age as my mom, and went along with it for years. I still refer to him as “Papaw Barry” to this day. I have fond memories of playing Power Rangers and looking for fairies in the backyard with all the Hicks kids. Anytime I was ever over at their house, which was daily for several years, Papaw Barry always made sure my belly and heart was full. I’d often go home and tell my mom or Mamaw to fix me something I had eaten at your house. You will be so missed, but I know your heart and humor is carried on by your family. Thank you for loving me as your own kid all those years. Watch over us, Papaw Barry.

So very sorry for your loss of Barry. Condolences to the whole family.
My fondness memory of Barry is when Rose, Barry and I surprised Mickey and all of the students at SEJ dressed as three old ladies singing and dancing to Proud Mary. Never will I forget the look on Mickey's face when she realized it was Barry up there on stage. Fun times.

Barry was the youngest of my (Bonita's) four male cousins, his dad being my mother's brother, but since I was an only child those cousins felt more like brothers for me. Barry will always be remembered as "Mr. Mom" and the love he shared with his own family as well as most he came into contact with. The photo included is of baby Barry with his three siblings (Jim-Mike-Steve) from some time in 1955 before his first birthday.
