Benjamin was born in Louisville on August 3, 1953 to Benjamin and Elizabeth Drane Bruner. He is preceded in death by his father. He was the oldest of seven children. He graduated from Paoli High School and studied at Indiana University. His hobbies included writing poetry, reading, and studying foreign languages.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Bruner; sisters, Kathy “Kirpa” Nakumura (Taki) , Julia Wagner (Gene), Bridget Smith (Dave), and Teresa Virgallito (David); brothers, Michael Bruner (Carol) and Thomas Bruner; step-mother, Constance Bruner; step-sisters, Sylvia Adair (Paul) and Stephanie Shearer (Edward); step-brother, Bryan Bruner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
