Betty Adkins Dawson

Betty Adkins Dawson, age 86, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Charlestown Place formerly Providence Healthcare with her loving husband Jack by her side. Betty was born into a big loving happy family and was the baby of twelve children in Pilot Knob, Indiana on March 15, 1938 to the late Edward and Hazel McDaniel Adkins. She was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ. Betty and Jack spent many years traveling to Florida, Branson, Mo and visiting relatives. They enjoyed many years traveling together in their RV. Betty worked at LG&E and Grantline Elementary School. She loved gardening and her flowers with a passion. She loved two dogs, Sailor and Keibo, collecting glass figurines and the candy Tootsie Rolls.

In addition to parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Opal Washburn, Mamie Helen Bullington, Mable Esteves, Virgil Adkins, Lee Adkins, Russell Adkins, Everett Adkins, Shirley Adkins, Cathern Dillman Gilliand and Ferrell Ann Brown.

Betty is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack Dawson; a sister, Wanda Jones; a son, Troy Dawson and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Betty will be held Friday, March 29, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.

Betty was blessed with many nieces and nephews who loved her and helped care for her including, Nikki Robison, Brenda Vance, Steve Jones, Janice and Dennis Adkins, Marilyn Brown Sonne, Sheila VanDyke, and many others including her church family.

Betty and Jack were inseparable from their marriage on October 11, 1958, we know Jack will miss Betty and will always welcome visitors at Charlestown Place (Providence Healthcare, 4915 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150).
