Calvin Renn Wrege Jr., 82, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. He was born on May 14, 1942, in New Albany, IN to the late Calvin Sr. and Wilma Wrege. After Calvin (Bud) graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1960 he was accepted into Vanderbilt university where he received his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering in 1964. Bud decided to serve his country by enrolling in the Peace Core and spent the next two years helping build irrigation systems in Nigeria, Africa. He returned to the US in 1966 and married Pamela Jane Creek in 1967. They enjoyed a loving marriage that lasted for 58 years. Shortly after they married, Bud went to work for Union Carbide/Praxair and had a rewarding career as an engineer and manager retiring from the same company in 2005 after 38 years. In Bud’s spare time he enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fan of the KC Royals and Chiefs.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, Marcia (sister) and Greg Daily (nephew).
Calvin is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Pamela (Creek) Wrege; His two kids and spouses Scott and Nataly Wrege, Melissa and John Manley. His four grandchildren Sam and Charlie Bostic and Ella and Carson Wrege. His brother WT Wrege as well as his nephew Jeff (Linda) Daily and his niece Debra (Dave) Lane.
Memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 EST on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Kraft Funeral Service with burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
