

CAROLYN SUE (WOLFINBARGER) ROBERTS passed away on June 2, 2012 at Wedgewood Kindred Rehabilitation in Clarksville, Ind. A former resident of River Crossing in Charlestown, she found her long-time residence in Jeffersonville, where she raised her 6 children.
She was born at home in Irvine, Ky. on July 23, 1939, to Fred and Milllicent Sue Wolfinbarger, and graduated from Irvine High School in 1957. She was an intelligent and active student who joined the Beta Academic Club and enjoyed playing the trumpet with the school band.
Carolyn’s ambitious and hardworking nature is reflected in her life-long devotion to her chosen careers. In addition to her job at Rauch Industries in New Albany, she started and owned the business Carolyn's Corner Laundromat in Jeffersonville, and worked at the Locker Room. In addition to her work ethic, Carolyn was a devoted and loving parent who served on the PTA, volunteered for little league baseball, and was a Cub Scout den mother.
Carolyn loved to ride horses, and as a young girl trained her horse Trigger difficult tricks for which she is still admired by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved hunting and fishing, and it wasn’t a visit with Carolyn until you went to the pond and caught some bluegill. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, she was the biggest Wildcats fan anyone knew. She loved her family, and was very proud of how many grandchildren she had. She always found time to spend with her beloved family, and was very thoughtful and kind. Her sense of humor kept the laughs flowing, and the smiles beaming.
She is survived by daughters: Kathy Roberts (Kathi Gray), Rebecca Plentl (Bob), Edie Schneider (Tony), and Jennifer Roberts. A son, W. Eric Roberts (Marilyn), Sisters, Burma Castleberry (Ray) and Sherry Denise Hatton (Tom), She has 15 grandchildren; Cody, Dakota, McKenna, Luke, Noah Roberts, Savannah, and Jake Schneider, Morgan, Brett, and Sidney Siewert, Eric Plentl, Dylan and Emma Routen, Holly and Heather Labus; 2 great grandchildren, Ava and Chloe. Nephews: Steve and David Hatton, Chad, Brent, Scott, and David Castleberry; and many great-nieces and -nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by William E. Roberts, her former husband and lasting friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Leslie Kaye Roberts, and nephew, Chris Hatton.
Her sense of humor, strength, and perseverence amazed all that knew her.
She and her smiles and jokes will be greatly missed, but her kindness, devotion, and caring spirit will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
