Obituary of Carroll Leo Bedan
Carroll Leo Bedan, 80 years of age passed away peacefully at home Wednesday September 5, 2018 following a 43 year battle with cardiac heart disease and lung cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a native of Floyds Knobs, born June 20, 1938. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Evelyn (Schroeder) Bedan, of Bedan Auto Electric, a first born son, Kevin, and brothers Wayne and Kenneth Bedan. Carroll was a 6 year veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard, worked at Starlight Cabinet Company, a 7 year employee of Pillsbury Co., a Mechanical and Structure Engineer for the Olin Corporation and a custom home designer and builder, known as Bedan Builders. He was an active member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church and former member of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kentuckiana and an in-home and transportation caregiver for the elderly and infirmed. He was a member of the Kentuckiana Blues Society and an avid Blues Harp player affectionally called “Doc Puff the Blues Doctor” by his fellow musician friends from Memphis and Nashville TN. as well as Louisville and Southern Indiana. He also was a member of the American Legion and the NRA. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Jeanette (Sprigler) Bedan; daughter, Debra “Debbie” Wilson II (LeRoy); son Jeffery (Jeff) Bedan; four grandchildren, LeRoy Wilson III (Alana), Brittany Owens (Matthew), Lucas Wilson (Bronte), Madison Bedan; four great grandchildren, Isaac and Abigail Owens, Leroy “Leo” Wilson IV, Lilly Wilson; sister, Marilyn Zeller Babbitt (Fred); brother, Gary Bedan; many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm Sunday September 9th, and after 9:00 am Monday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St. in New Albany. His Funeral Liturgy will be held 11:00 am Monday September 10th, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church Chapel with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
