C.B. "Columbus" Spurlock Jr.

Columbus B. Spurlock, Jr., better known as C.B. Spurlock, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in New Albany, Indiana on Friday, February 3, 2023. He was born December 13, 1931, in Cedar Hill, Tennessee, the son of the late Columbus B. Spurlock Sr. ("Colonel") and Nancy Jane Spurlock (Janey). He retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years and had been a member and former deacon of the Graceland Baptist Church. C.B. Spurlock was a country music musician and singer songwriter. He had been a lead singer in local bands, “The Herb Clinert Band” and “The Pirtle Band”. His band “The Country Sounds” served to provide entertainment for residents in New Albany’s skilled nursing facilities for many years. He was an avid bowler and bowled on many New Albany area leagues throughout the years. He scored a 300 game in 1995 at the Eastern Bowling lanes in Clarksville, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, JB Spurlock; his son, Terry Spurlock (Debbie); his first wife, Lou Alice Spurlock and his two sisters, Marie Wooten and Barbara Simpson. He is survived by his wife, Helen Spurlock of New Albany, Indiana; his daughter, Pam Deuser (Rick) of Winter Garden, Florida; his grandson, Seth Spurlock (Jacinda); his step-daughters, Rebecca Philpott of Sellersburg, Indiana and Deborah Herrera (Ted) of Brownsburg, Indiana; his step grandchildren, Victoria (Justin), Mary (Evan), Devan, Kyle, and Erik; step great grandchildren, Smith and Isla; his brothers, Carl Spurlock (Elanie), George Spurlock (Sheryl), Danny Spurlock (Becky), and his sisters Kay Blick, and June Conatser (Michael) and all reside in Tennessee. Visitation for C.B. "Columbus" will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Friday, February 10, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150. Funeral service will be Friday, February 10, 2023, at 12:00 PM with a luncheon reception following at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
