Charles "Charlie" E. Lawson, 84, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, entered the pearly gates of Heaven on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Jewish Hospital Kindred in Louisville, Kentucky. Charles was born on December 4, 1941, in Springfield, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Martha (Woehner) Lawson. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 34 years, Gloria Jean Lawson; his daughter, Karen Lawson of Jeffersonville; sons, Gregory (Barbara) Lawson and Jeffery (Shannon) Lawson, both of Clarksville, Indiana; stepson, Terry Wayne (Sharon) Houtchens of Louisville, Kentucky; grandsons, Brandon, Brent, and Aaron Lawson; great granddaughter, Iris; his brother, Douglas (Mary Ann) Lawson; his sister, Marquita Lawson; nieces, Ti-leigh Telford and Beth Anne Freeman of Florida; nephew, Jason Clapton; great nieces and nephews as well as step nieces and nephews.
He was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from the USPS. He enjoyed hobbies including golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was a Bobby Knight fan and a U.K. fan.
A visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
A funeral service will be held at Kraft Funeral Service on Thursday, August, 27, 2026, at 11:00 am with military honors to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for expressions of sympathy to be made to Crusade for Children or the American Diabetes Association.
