LTC (RET.) Charles E. Smith

LTC (RET.) Charles E. Smith, 84, died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. He was born August 6, 1930 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Charles O. and Margaret (Whiteside) Smith. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Farnsley. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard for 31 years, a member of Jacobs Chapel United Methodist Church, retired from Raque Food Systems in Louisville, and volunteered with the Centenary UMC Food Pantry.

Survivors include:

Wife of 62 years: Mary Jo (Regot) Smith

Son: Mark Smith and his wife, Donna

Son-in-law: Brian Farnsley

Grandchildren: Jessica Farnsley, Elizabeth Poole, Katy Smith, Mary Jo House, and Chase Smith

Great Grandchildren: Caleb Sparrow, Ava Poole, Savanah Allen-Farnsley, Ian Allen-Farnsley, and Alexandria Poole

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday and after 9:00 am Monday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service with military honors will be 2:00 pm Monday in the funeral home chapel with private burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to: Jacobs Chapel UMC, Centenary UMC Food Pantry, or Indiana National Guard Relief Fund.
