Charles Roy "Chuck" Willis passed on July 16, 2026, at the age of 77. He was a faithful follower of Christ, born on December 11, 1948 in Terre Haute, Indiana and served our country in the United States Army as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. After returning he earned his Bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University, and later his Masters in Business Administration at Webster University.
A lifelong hard worker, he was an Operations Manager at Yellow Freight Trucking Company for 16 years before becoming the owner and operator of State Street Hardware from 1993–2007. Following that, he became the “busiest retiree ever,” driving grandchildren to practices, rebuilding old cars, and keeping his lawn and truck pristine.
Chuck bravely enlisted in the Army at 19 and took pride in being a soldier and veteran who served his country as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He maintained his love of flying throughout his life.
Outside of flying, Chuck loved fishing, boating, and traveling with family. He loved the Destin, FL area and any lake he could get his pontoon in.
He was the best Papa, never missing a moment to spend time with his grandkids. He was a brave soldier throughout his life and his legacy will live on in his children and grandchildren.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Cindy Willis; children, Missy Konijeti (Krishna), Kendra Deckard (Dustin), Charlie Willis (Rachel); sisters, Lee Broyles (Denny), Mickey Reese, Carol Williams (Richard); grandchildren, Mayon, Anela, Kensie, Jordan, Lucas, Penny; sister-in-laws, Julie Burns (Daniel), Jenny Botkins (Roy); numerous nieces, nephews, and his dog, Hank.
