Cletus A. Dethy, 91, of Greenville, Indiana, passed on August 16, 2026, in New Albany, Indiana. Cletus was born on April 26, 1935, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Charles Dethy and Amelia (Missi) Dethy. Cletus was a proud long-time employee of United Parcel Service based in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a lifelong member of Saint Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, Floyds Knobs, Indiana. Cletus enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.
Cletus is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Dorothy Allen, Sister Elvira, and Kay Hoehn.
Cletus is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Jean Dethy; his children, Susan Stippler (Jon), Beth Ottersbach (Barrie), Glenn Dethy (Vanessa); his grandchildren, Melanie (Kevin), Lucas (Katie), Nicholas, Molly (Hayden), Grant (Kassidey), Collin, Aidan (Maggie), and Addison; His great grandchildren, Quinn, Will, and Henry; his siblings, Jim Dethy and Rosalie Schenck; and many extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
A funeral mass will be held at Saint Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, Floyds Knobs, Indiana, with Father Bill Marks officiating, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 10:30 am. Cletus will be laid to rest at Saint Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for expressions of sympathy to be made to Saint Mary of the Knobs New School Building Fund.
