Clifford "Cliff" H. Schafer, 86, of Charlestown, IN, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Norton Clark Hospital, Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on August 6, 1940, in Sellersburg, Indiana, to the late Henry and Marie (Wessel) Schafer. He retired from Jim O’Neal Ford in Sellersburg. Cliff was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church, Sellersburg, Indiana. He was also a member of the Hoosier Knobs Car Club and the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Sharon J. (Lethco) Schafer; and his brothers, Jerome C. Schafer Sr. and Carroll H. Schafer.
He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Lentz, his nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana, on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Friday, October 2, 2026, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.
A funeral mass will be held at Saint John Paul II Catholic Church, 2253 West Saint Joe Road, Sellersburg, Indiana, on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 10:00 am. Cliff will have a private entombment at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, Indiana.
