Crystal Gail Caufield

Crystal Hoskins Caufield, 70, passed away surrounded by family on September 27, 2026. She was born May 17, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Willard Hoskins Sr. and Ethel (Doss) Hoskins. Crystal enjoyed being a mother and a homemaker most of her life, but became self-employed later in life. She was passionate about animals, including her dog and cat, Mr. Gatlin and Daisy Mae. When not working or spending time with her family, Crystal liked traveling and being outdoors.

Crystal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John E. Caufield Jr.; and her brother, Willard "Billy" Hoskins Jr.

Crystal is survived by her daughter, Bridgett VanVactor (Jered Gonzales) and John E. Caufield III (Marilyn Sink); her one and only and wonderful grandson, Schuyler VanVactor; her loving long-time partner, Lester Strode, and his son, Aaron Strode (Brittany); along with many extended family and friends.

Crystal's wishes were for a private, family-only service to be held in her honor. A private entombment will also take place at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, Indiana.
