Dannie Leon “Dixie” Powers, 76 years of age passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2022. He was born on July 27, 1945 in Columbus, Indiana to the late William and Betty Powers. Dixie was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired train conductor from CSX Railroad. He was a member of VFW Post #3281 in New Albany and was 32 Degree Mason. Dixie loved riding his Harley Davidson.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Brenda Powers; sons, Joe Powers and Jason Powers (Tiffaney); siblings, Connie Powers, Clarence “Bubby” Powers, Debrah Lenz, and Ancil Powers; grandchildren, Lakyn Elliott (Terry), Macy Powers, and Dalton Powers; and great granddaughter, Atlee Elliott.
A reception of family and friends will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany, Indiana. His Memorial Service with Military Honors will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the funeral home chapel.
The family requests expressions of sympathy to American Diabetes Association.
