

David Louis Stemle, 80, of New Albany, Indiana passed away at his home in Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday, April 27, 2023. He was born on July 21, 1942 to the late Irvin and Lucy Stemle. David's greatest interest was in the field of American Archaeology, an interested he pursued on an amateur basis for nearly 40 years. As a result, he contributed site survey information to the Glenn Black Laboratory of Archelogy, Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana on a voluntary basis for many, many years, a labor of love which he enjoyed tremendously. He also donated many Indian Artifacts to the Falls of the Ohio State Park and Museum, as well as contributing several articles to various archaeological journals, one of which was cited in "Stone Age Speak and Arrow Points of the Midcontinental and Eastern United States", Written by Noel Justice and Published in 1987. He was a 1960 graduate of Providence High School and Bellarmine College.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Lucy; stepfather, Bud Tabor; brother, Dennis and sisters, Joyce and Sharon.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Zoeller; a daughter, Robin Sarkees (Albert); grandchildren, Meagan (Jordan), Sarah (Steve), and Sean (Kelsey); great-grandchildren Luna, Lottie, and Porter; his beloved cat of 20 years, Stinky; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
The family request no flowers, but donations be sent to Hosparus Health Louisville in his memory.
