Dennis Lee Fach

Dennis was born on February 10, 1943, in New Albany to Marion Fach and Martha (Davis) Fach. He graduated from New Albany High School and went on to college at Indiana State University, receiving bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education and school administration.

Dennis spent over 30 years in the New Albany-Floyd County Schools teaching vocational education briefly at Scribner Junior High School and New Albany High School, with most of his career as a school administrator at the former Prosser Vocational Center. After retirement from education, Dennis transitioned into a new career – one he had been preparing for his whole life: television. He spent 8 years in the production department at WDRB Fox 41 in Louisville, operating cameras for the nightly news, the Denny Crum Show, and UofL football, basketball, and volleyball. His camera experience led to him working several professional sporting events, including NFL and MLB games.

More than anything, Dennis will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and good friend. He was especially devoted to his St. Paul Episcopal church family and his Gang-Stars friends. He loved fantasy novels, watching the NFL, NHL, and especially NASCAR or really any auto racing. He always loved vacationing with his family, and at 40, he discovered cruising and took dozens of cruise trips all over the world with his wife and friends.

Those who knew him will remember his sense of humor, which was often dry and clever. He was always good for a one-liner or an unexpected pun. Not everyone knew that Dennis also had an encyclopedic knowledge of 60s and 70s music and would showcase this talent by singing along anytime he heard a favorite tune. In fact, he once entertained an entire cruise ship by performing Love Potion #9 in a karaoke contest (he came in second, but he was robbed!).

Dennis is survived by Fran, his wife of 59 years: his daughters Cathy Green (Russ) and Beth LaRock (Eric); his grandchildren, Evan and Ethan LaRock and Nathanael, Rowan, and Lucy Green; and many extended family members and friends.

A visitation will take place Thursday evening, October 1, 5-7 pm at St. Paul’s Parish House at 1015 E. Main Street, New Albany. The memorial service will be held Friday, October 2 at 10 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (at the corner of Market and E. 11th Street) in New Albany.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, reflecting Dennis’ commitment to his faith and the ministries of his church, or to your own center of faith in his memory.
