

Donald E. "Skip" Rush Sr., aged 88, passed away on October 9, 2025. He was born on August 25, 1937. Skip was married to his beloved wife of 59 years, Millie Ann (Sorg) Rush. The son of the late Martha (Rodewig) Manship and stepdad, Earl Wayne "Bill" Manship. He was born in New Albany, Indiana, on August 25, 1937. Skip retired after 43 years from E.M. Cummings Veneer as the superintendent of the factory. Skip attended Saint Mary's School in New Albany, Indiana, and went to high school at Gibault School for Boys in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving within the D-253rd Armored Field Artillery Bn. Division, the 6th Armored Division, 3rd Platoon from Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Skip proudly served toward the end of the Korean War and was based in Canada.
He loved to play golf, hunt, bowl, and go fishing. As a hobby, He also had a woodworking shop where he enjoyed making furniture for his family, relatives, and friends.
Skip was a devoted Catholic and attended Saint Mary's Catholic Church in New Albany, Indiana.
He enjoyed telling his family stories of when he was a boxer in the Indiana State Golden Gloves, and while at Gibault High School for boys, he won a state championship in his class. He was a 37-year member of the American Legion on Grantline Road and a 42-year member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight for 2 years.
Skip was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Millie Ann (Sorg) Rush; his mother, Martha (Rodewig) Manship.
Skip is survived by his children; Tina (Clarence) Hall and Donald E. (Lisa) Rush Jr.; grandchildren, Clarence (Toshia) Hall III, Amanda (Greg) Dennis, Ashley (Chad) Blackman, Amber (Ryan) Brewer, Allie (Michael) Hardin, and his 12 great-grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana, on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Mary's of New Albany on Thursday, Oct 16, 2025, at 10:00 am with a military service to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, Indiana.
