Donnie Akers, 86, passed away surrounded by family, on May 20, 2026, in New Albany, Indiana. Donnie was born on May 16, 1940, to the late LeRoy Akers and Ruth (Faith) Akers. Donnie spent most of his career working in the grocery industry, but later in life enjoy working in cabinetry. However, his passion was golfing.
Donnie is preceded in death by his parents; his grandchildren, Shawn and McKenna Gunterman; his siblings, Lee Akers, Mike Akers, and an infant brother.
Donnie is survived by his children; Diana Gunterman (Paul), Donnie Akers, Phil Akers (Fred), Paul Akers (Irma), Lonnie Akers (June), and Lynette Akers.
Donnie's wishes were to be cremated and his arrangements handled by Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana.
