

Dorothy Lee (Meme/Dot) Daugherty Caple, 92, passed this life to be with the Lord Friday March 15, 2013. She was the widow of William A. Caple . Born February 15th, 1921 in Bowen, KY. to the late Patrick and Myrtle Vaught Caple and grew up in Danville, KY. Dot, in her early years worked as a book keeper for Farmer Supply in Danville, KY. and later was the book keeper for the Fair Store and C & D Auction Service, which her husband Bill owned in New Albany, IN. Dot was an active member of Culbertson Avenue Baptist Church, the CIA Sunday school class, she volunteered at the Floyd Memorial Hospital gift shop for some 3500 hours, and was an avid student of the Bible, leading and attending various Bible studies throughout her life. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, listening to books for the blind, and especially she enjoyed and loved her family. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sandy Harper, granddaughters Stephanie “JJ” Harper, Louthan and Amanda Sue Caple, brothers “June”, Leon and Joe Daugherty and her sister Margaret Carter.
Survivors include:
Three sons: Rev. Dr. Bill Caple (Pat) of Lexington, KY., David A. Caple (Ann) and Robert L. Caple (Pam) all of New Albany, IN.
Brother: Donald Daugherty (Wilma) of Nicholasville, KY.
Sister-in-law: Desiree Daugherty of Louisville, KY.
Nine Grandchildren: Dr. Alex Harper, Cynthia “CC” Zaino, Joshua Harper, James Caple, Christina Harrison, Ben Caple, “Abby” Auten, “Allie”, and Amie Caple.
18 Great grandchildren: Lauren, Louthan, Matthew, Claire and Evelyn Caple; Nicholas and Jessica Harrison; Harper Lee; Callie and Mallory Zaino; Caleb, Sara, Lily and Willow Harper; Sydney and Alexander Auten; Presley and Phoebe Caple;
Nieces and Nephews: Pam Evans, Chuck, John, and Tom Daugherty; Lynn Thomas, Tom and Mike Carter; Kevin and Marty Daugherty; Margaret Lee Isabell; Billy Joe and Barbara Daugherty.
Reception of family and friends will be from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon Monday March 18th, with Service of Resurrection at 12:00 noon Monday with Rev. Dr. Darrell James officiating at Culbertson Baptist Church 4007 Grantline Rd. New Albany, IN. 47150 Entombment will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Expressions in lieu of flowers to: Culbertson Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
