Obituary of Dorothy Marie Baldwin Hardin
Dorothy Marie Hardin, 97, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away August 28, 2020, in Deland, Florida with her only son and dear friend, Gertrude, by her side. She was born October 6, 1922, in New Albany, IN. In addition to being a wife and mother, she worked at Sears Department Store for 25 years and was an active member of the Chapel Hill Christian Church. Her friends and family will remember her love of cards, crafts, and cooking. She lived on her own until she was almost 94 and in the same house for 60 years in New Albany. She was an independent woman and traveled around the U.S. in her later years, even making it to Hawaii and Alaska. At 75 years old, she took her first trip overseas to Paris! She enjoyed collecting thimbles and did not believe in throwing anything away. Throughout the years, she has enjoyed watching her family grow and creating memories with her son and grandchildren. Her parents, George Baldwin and Nellie Viola Felker; her husband, William Hardin Sr.; her brothers, George Baldwin and Robert Baldwin; and her grandson, Aaron Hardin, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, William Hardin, Jr. (Kathy); sisters, Betty Chin and Mary Alice Pennington; 2 Grandchildren, Christopher Hardin (Kelly) and Kristin Hardin Jefferson (Andrew); four great grandchildren, Brittani, Drake, Colby, and Ava; and two great great grandchildren Hayden (9) and Aaron James (3). Visitation will be 11 am ~ 1 pm Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, IN. Her Funeral Service will be 1 pm Saturday in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with private burial following in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany.
