Dorothy Lee Wells Wathen

DOROTHY LEE (WELLS) WATHEN, 96, died Thursday, May 15, 2014 at home. The daughter of the late William Joseph and Carrie Louise Moeller Wells, Dorothy was born July 27, 1917 in Louisville, Ky. She was a homemaker and long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Dorothy volunteered at St. Mary’s School for 18 years. She was a loving mother and prayed daily for everyone she knew. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James William Wathen, Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Mag Wells; and granddaughter, Jessica Blessitt.

Survivors include children, Wanda L. Vance (Ramon Thompson), James W. Wathen III (Jan), Ronald L. Wathen Sr. (Linda) and Juanita M. Blessitt; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 12:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Monday and after 9:00 am Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Albany with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery
